November 2021 E-news: The Other Art Fair London Highlights

I enjoyed being on display for another full on few days at the Autumn edition of The Other Art Fair London between 14-17 October on Brick Lane, Shoreditch. Following the July edition at Kings Cross where I made my first public fair appearance, this event was back in its usual home of Shoreditch. This time the fair hosted 140 of the UK’s hottest emerging independent artists and – thanks to the end of Covid restrictions – a bar and live DJs.

It was great to meet hundreds more visitors and get my artwork into another couple of dozen homes, passing the 150 prints sold mark in the process. The total now stands at 175 – I’m aiming to reach 250 by the end of the year. Any support in reaching this milestone would be hugely appreciated! I also exhibited my new merchandise including mugs, cushions and clothing range (pictured, below) which provided useful feedback.

BOXPARK Shoreditch – The Final Countdown

Less than 2 weeks to go until my debut solo London exhibition opens – in Unit 18 at BOXPARK Shoreditch between 15-21 November.

I can’t wait to set up and exhibit in another totally different type of space – after exhibiting at a couple of large scale public art fairs, in a private gallery, in the Forum library in Norwich and at a private birthday party in the Barbican Centre Conservatory. It will be great to add a retail venue to that list – it’s all so helpful in providing the feedback for deciding what direction to go in in 2022.

I’ll be displaying my collection of acrylic portrait action paintings along with prints of those that I’ve already sold (below), as well as my new merchandise and TV with my Behind the Scenes painting videos. Hope to see some of you there! If not you can view and shop my full range at www.bykerwin.com – perfect for Christmas gifts this year.

Room for One More? Roy’s Art Fair, London 25-28 November

Roy's Art Fair at Oxo Tower London | By Kerwin

To complete my London Autumn-Winter 2021 exhibition hat-trick, I’ll be on display at Roy’s Art Fair between 25-28 November, at the iconic Oxo Tower on the south bank of the River Thames.

80 artists will be on display at this one, which will be held in the Bargehouse gallery – an historic warehouse building dating back over a century and complete with exposed brickwork for an industrial, atmospheric feel. Tickets for this one are complementary – contact me for details.

Did You Know: Oxo Tower London Facts

When the Oxo cube manufacturers (The Liebig Extract of Meat Company) moved in and converted the building in the 1920s, they were banned from advertising their flagship product on the side. They got around London’s strict advertising rules by designing the new tower’s windows in the iconic O – X – O shape, which has now become a cultural London landmark.

The building was initially built around the end of the 19th century to be a power station to supply a nearby Royal Mail post office.

I’m a Lucky Man – My First Gig in Over 2 Years!

I had a great night on November 1st seeing Richard Ashcroft live at London’s Royal Albert Hall – which was my first gig since Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Singapore Grand Prix in September 2019! This was almost exactly 1 year since I painted the former Verve frontman. I was buzzing to see him live for the first time and in a new venue for me – and what a venue it is. It was my first ever gig sat in a box too – I could get used to that.

Have you seen my Richard Ashcroft painting? Prints of the original acrylic handpainted version are available here, in a few different sizes.
