Kerwin Sells Out at NSPCC Manchester Fundraiser, April 2024
Prints of The Beatles and Debbie Harry sell to raise important NSPCC funds – as Kerwin meets DJ Peter Hook!
Tuesday 30th April 2024 saw another successful and enjoyable night organised by the Manchester, UK NSPCC team, as they hosted an Art Exhibition fundraiser event at Three Little Words gin bar.
This edition of the event was themed ‘Going To The Movies’ as they invited over two dozen local artists to produce to display movie-themed artwork that would be on sale to attendees on the night. Funds from the sales would then go to the NSPCC, the UK’s children’s charity.
As my own By Kerwin paintings and artwork is more music-inspired than out of the movies I had to get a bit creative with my two artworks displayed on the night! I chose The Beatles as they starred in their own films and pioneered the crossover between music and the film industry in the 1960s. I also chose Debbie Harry as she was also an actress, starring in movies including Hairspray and Union City.
I was pleased to see both of these box-framed canvas prints head off to new homes on the night, with a share of proceeds going to the NSPCC.
Another exciting highlight was that headlining the DJing on the night was music legend, Joy Division and New Order bassist Peter Hook! It was cool to get a photo with him too!
This was my third time participating in this fundraiser – having appeared at their November 2023 and Summer 2023 events.
